Velcro Fund

The Velcro Fund was established in July of 1998. "Velcro" is a gray, domestic short hair, male cat that was presented to the hospital with a projectile protruding from his left eye. The projectile was a six-inch dart from a blowgun. It was determined that we would be unable to save the eye and an eye enucleation was recommended.

The owners of Velcro were unable to afford the surgery so they directed their efforts to the public for help. Channel 3 News did a story about Velcro and the results were heartwarming. Not only were we able to perform Velcro's surgery, but also there was a surplus of money to be placed into the fund. We use the fund at our discretion when an animal is sick or injured and the owner cannot afford treatment. With this fund, we have been able to save countless pets that would have otherwise been euthanized. If you would like to make a donation into The Velcro Fund, please contact 602-277-1464, and we will make the necessary arrangements for your donation.

Rescue Groups

In order to help with the over-population of feral cats in our community, Alta Vista works with several independent rescue groups offering discounted services for spays and neuters. In addition to the low-cost surgeries, we offer discounted services such as vaccines, lab tests, and physical examinations. We have been able to save countless unwanted pets by offering these discounted services.

Free Exams

In addition to working with the rescue groups, we offer free exams for pets who have been adopted at the Arizona Humane Society or Animal Care and Control Services. Both the AHS and ACCS require that your pet be examined within 10 days of their adoption, so be sure to schedule as soon as possible.
