| Meet The Staff Gerald Jenkins ![]() DVM Dr. Gerald Jenkins and his wife Cyndi are the owners of Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Jenkins has owned and operated Alta Vista since 1972. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1970 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jenkins followed in his father's footsteps, as he was also a veterinarian. It is Dr. Jenkin's philosophy that has made our animal hospital so successful. It is his belief that we can provide our clients with exceptional veterinary medicine at a fair price. Although Dr. Jenkins is partially retired, he still offers years of experience to share with our associate veterinarians. Dr. Jenkins also performs many of the orthopedic procedures brought in to the hospital. |

Wm Sean Penn ![]() DVM, Diplomate, American Board of Veterinay Practitioners, (Certified in canine and feline practice) Dr. Penn was raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma and received a BS in zoology from Oklahoma State University in 1993 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1997. After completion of an intensive internship in small animal medicine and surgery, Dr Penn worked in emergency medicine for ten years. In January 2007 he became board certified with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He is certified in canine and feline practice. Dr. Penn has worked occasionally at Alta Vista over the last decade. He decided to join Alta Vista in January 2008 as he was particularly attracted to the extended hours, seven day a week availability, and great Veterinary Team. His professional interests include emergency and critical care medicine, ultrasound, clinical pathology, surgery, and practice management. Dr. Penn's personal interest include golf, tennis, snow skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his wife and two daughters. |

| Dana D Ostroph DVM Dr. Dana D Ostroph was raised in Buffalo, NY and completed her bachelor of science at University of Central Florida in Orlando. She completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. D’Ostroph relocated to phoenix 3 years ago and worked as an emergency and critical care veterinarian before joining Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital. |

Jacquie Allgire ![]() DVM, Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist Dr. Jacquie Allgire grew up in Southern California and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach in 1987. In 1998 she graduated from Colorado State University with her Degree in Veterinary Medicine. She moved to Boise, Idaho where she practiced veterinary medicine for 10 years before moving to Phoenix in August of 2008. In 2001 she became a certified veterinary acupuncturist through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and has since dedicated herself to practicing primarily Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jacquie specializes in providing acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, homeopathy and chiropractic care for small animal patients. She is an active member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, the International Veterinary Medical Society, the Veterinary Botanical Medical Association and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr. Jacquie, her wonderful husband and two incredible children share their home with four dogs, two hens and a rabbit who is convinced he is a rooster. The family enjoys hiking and karate together. Dr. Jacquie also enjoys gardening, running and yoga. |

Justin Butler ![]() DVM Dr. Butler grew up on a farm in rural South Carolina. Growing up on a dairy farm instilled a love for animals from an early age. After graduation from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, Justin moved to Phoenix to begin his career. After 2 years in Phoenix, Justin met his wife Rachael, a Tempe Native. They have 2 young sons, Jack and Drew and a yellow lab named Dixie. When not a work, Justin enjoys running, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and most importantly spending time with his family. Justin has run 2 marathons and plans on running more in the future. |

Jeff Hesser ![]() DVM Dr. Jeff Hesser is a recent graudate of Colorado State University as part of the class of 2009. Previously he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Arizona. Dr. Hesser grew up the majority of his life in Glendale, Arizona and is loving his time practicing medicine so close to home. He lives with his fiance Allegra and his golden retriever Maizey, australian sheppard Duncan, and shih tzu Leroy. Dr. Hesser chooses to spend his free time with his fiance and family (dogs included) and fly fishing as often as possible. He is very excited and thankful to be part of the staff at Alta Vista as it gives him an opportunity to practice medicine with a high volume of cases and group of people dedicated to high standard ethical medicine. |

Angie Blades ![]() OFFICE MANAGER Angie started at Alta Vista in 2001 as a part-time receptionist while attending Phoenix College. She has always loved working with animals and knew that they would be her career.Angie became the full-time boarding director and hospital receptionist in 2004. After having her son she became more dedicated and focused on Alta Vista and their clients! Angie looks foward to continue to provide excellent customer service. She moved to Arizona from Idaho when she was 8 weeks old and grew up in Glendale with her parents, brother, sister, and many pets!! Angie really enjoys all types of animals. She really enjoys spending time with her family! At home she has a son, 3 dogs, and 6 cats. |

Mandee Green ![]() VETERINARY TECHNICIAN, CVT Mandee is a certified veterinary technician and has been working within the veterinary field since July 2006. She is good friends with DVM, Kate McCullough who inspired her to become involved in the woderfully exciting world of animals. Mandee is still entertaining the idea of furhtering her career to becoming a veternarian, but is happy where she is today. She has 3 dogs and 2 cats and life is good. |

Alondra Fernandez ![]() VETERINARY TECHNICIAN Allie graduated from Apollo College in February 2004 as a Veterinary Assistant. She is originally from Castroville, California "The artichoke center of the world." She always grew up with animals and seems to share a bond with them. She loves working at Alta Vista and building a relationship with clients and their pets. She presently has two cats Pita and Famosa and a dog named Cali. She spends lots of time with her pets and her new born son! |

Peter Culbertson ![]() VETERINARY TECHNICIAN Peter Culbertson was born and raised in Phoenix, and has been working as a technician since 2001 and has been at Alta Vista since 2008. Peter has also worked in multiple types of veterinary practices including ASU and AZ Humane Society and you may be able to catch him on episodes of Animal Planet Heroes. Peter does extensive rescue and foster work for animals of all types, especially dogs that need medical care. Peter has a menagerie which includes; 11 dogs, 3 cats, and other critters. He enjoys spending his spare time with his large family which includes 21 nieces and nephews. He will be happy to take care of you and your pet anytime you come into Alta Vista! |

Tanya Mahon ![]() VETERINARY TECHNICIAN Tanya was born and raised in Arizona. She went to Apollo College and graduated in 2005. Tanya came to Alta Vista after working at the Humane Society for 4 years. She has always had a passion for animals. She has a cat, two dogs, and a daughter on the way! When Tanya is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and road trips. |

| Brenna Johnson VETERINARY TECHNICIAN, CVT Brenna is a Certified Veterinary Technician from Rochester, Minnesota. She received her state and national certification in June 2008 before graduating from Minnesota School of Business in December. Brenna is currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences and plans to further her career wherever that may take her. Her past experience includes volunteering at local animal shelters, working for another animal clinic, and interning in an animal research facility. In Minnesota she has 2 family dogs, “Brewchi”, a Springer Spaniel, and “Peppermint”, a three legged dog she rescued from her clinic. Making her home in Phoenix now, her pets include a guinea pig with a big attitude ,“Immi”, who she raised from a baby; and her obnoxious dog Lacie! |

| Morgan White Veterinary Assistant Morgan graduated from Apollo College in March 2010 and has been working at Alta Vista since. She grew up on a ranch taking care of many different species of animals ranging from dogs and cats to ostriches and emus. Since the age of three she has always wanted to have a career working with animals. She plans to continue her education and earn a Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine. She currently has one Ball Python, two Leopard Geckos, a Pit Bull named Diesel and a three legged Min Pin named Trinity. |

Sissy Donning ![]() RECEPTIONIST Sissy graduated with her AOS degree in veterinary technology in February 2009. She is very friendly and enjoys life. She always has a place in her heart for animals and will continue her education for them. Sissy joined the Alta Vista team, after completing her extern, in October of 2007. In her spare time she enjoys relaxing at home with her boyfriend and her little zoo. |

Sabastina Bartalone ![]() RECEPTIONIST Sabastiana will be at the front desk to welcome you when you come in during our evening and weekend hours! She is wonderful at making you feel welcome. She has been working with us since November 2007 and has been in the field for several years! Sabastina is a huge Chihuahua fan and has 3 at home. She is originally from the Bronx, New York but setteled here in Arizona. She is a wonderful addition to our staff and looks foward to being part of our wonderful family! |

Sonia Sikora ![]() Sonia is a receptionist here at Alta Vista. She moved here from New York 6 years ago. She has a world record in swimming the English Channel when she was only 13 years old. Sonia now lives in Scottsdale with her boyrfriend, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She has always had a big heart for animals and will always greet you at the front desk with a smile and genuine concern for your pets. |
